If you think we are one of the followings:
– Thoughtless young bloods dreaming to be listed in Forbes’ top one hundred billionaires by establishing an internet business,
– A group of college friends who has just started their own business after wasting several meaningless years working for a large company, or
– Merely unemployed guys who have nothing but to spend most hours in a day sitting before a desktop
You are wrong!
We are a group of four middle aged gentlemen who have had a question – Is the flow of money inevitable for transactions carried out between people in this human society?
The question is where our initial idea for VowPal was bred. By the way, three of us, James, Lab and JO, went to the same college and the other one, EB, has been a friend of James’ for long time. Anyway, we are all friends, now.
In the world of VowPal, we hope that you will get used to using VOW instead of money when you need or want to thank people for their support, help or care in any form.
In Korea, there is a very old local community tradition called “Pum-A-Shi”. ‘Pum-A-Shi” represents a spirit of working together. ‘Pum” means “labor or effort”. ”A-Shi” does “trade or exchange”. Basically, the old Koreans created a system in which they work and live together by exchanging or trading what each of them was good at or could offer others.
We wish VowPal to offer you a useful tool for expressing your appreciation for help from others as well as asking for help. And, further, we are dreaming of a global community where each of the community members can help each other without restrictions that monetary system often places against humanity.
It is a humble website, and may be a humble dream. But, we know all the big dreams ever realized in the history of human being starts with a humble but visionary idea.
We, now, offer our hands to you, counting on you for the future of VowPal. We will do everything we can do to support you exploring ways to make VowPal be part of your life.
When you need something or want to help others, try VowPal first!
